MAC Retro Matte lipstick in Fixed on Drama £15.00 - sold out from MAC direct but available in store at Debenhams with 10% off until Sunday 15th September
One item I was desperately after was a dark red/berry lipstick that is also matte. I'm not a fan of the moisture style lipsticks with dark colours, it usually leads to bleeding and a lot of reapplying. They can still be useful if they stain the lips but I always have to blot as I like to put a lipstick on and forget about it. I don't think I've ever reapplied a lipstick more than once in a night, that's my limit.
So I was overly joyed with this range, I was being good at the point as I'd just spent my spending money in Illamasqua so I was in and out of MAC, told them what I was after and was presented with Fixed on Drama from the Retro Matte range. I was so excited to try it out properly when I got home, it is the only thing I've unpacked from that shopping trip.
I don't think I've ever had a lipstick so matte, the colour itself is a dark berry red. I found it best to have a thin layer of balm underneath as the lipstick is really dry so on its own it can drag - even better would be to use a brush. I didn't opt for a lip liner to go with it as well - I was trying to be good with money but slightly regret not getting it now, the lipstick does dry almost immediately though, it sets in place, I actually used the lipstick to line the lips and work in, one blot and it is set. Even though the lipstick is a strong colour because it's matte it's perfect to put on and forget about it, it stays in place and lasts.
